Do Laws About Motorcycle Helmets Actually Cause Fatalities? |

Motorcycle helmets are obviously a good idea. They are designed to protect against head injury in the case of a crash or fall. Motorcycle helmets save both lives and the dollars of the taxpayer. Only those of limited intelligence do not know this. However, there is some controversy as to whether wearing motorcycle helmets should actually be compulsory. In most states people are obliged to wear a helmet while driving a motorcycle. Doesn't such legislation patronize us and take away our free will? Only people of subnormal intellect would neglect to protect themselves from injury. A law ensuring that we all wear motorcycle helmets really isn’t necessary given that those of us with a limited IQ probably should not be driving around on a motorcycle in the first instance. Rather than saving lives, the law concerning motorcycle helmets has probably caused a few fatalities. Some people get so angry about Nanny State type laws that they unwisely disobey them just to make a point.
