Recently I twisted my knee after a crash and burn due to a rain-slickened tree root cutting across the trail I was riding on. This typical injury quickly taught me how important wearing a knee brace is to riding safety and eliminating injury and soreness. However most knee support braces are often uncomfortable and to restrictive I decided to check-out a few pairs of comfortable motocross pants that did not limit the movement of my knee so much as to make it a peg leg yet still provided comfortable protection. Tall order, right? Not anymore as I discovered my problem has been solved with MSR's new line of Revolver gear.

MSR's Revolver pant ($95) was just what I desired in a comfortable pair of riding pants. the knee protection, flexibility and a price that you cannot beat. I like the generous knee and leg areas when pulling the pant up  the feel and fit are great. The stitching was durable throughout the knee and thigh areas, too, thanks to a multi-row stitching pattern MSR uses when making the pant.

MSR Pants.

The pants have a great feature I think other motorcycle apparel manufacturers will adapt is the ratchet-style belt that has dual tensions located near each hip so one can adjust the pant for a perfect fit. Another nice feature of these MSR motorcycle pants is the generous adjust ability the extra long belt provides. So if you are packing a full I-Hop breakfast the pants will still fit comfortably. And who among us can resist a great I-Hop gut busting breakfast before hitting the trails! At least my Nolan motorcycle helmet still fits ok. The comfort and flexibility of the pants while riding is very good as the pant was flexible and durable in all the crucial areas. The elastic cuff's found on both legs of the MSR Revolver motorcycle pants offer protection from cold, mud and water. The pants are also lightweight yet I believe the durability will provide many years of use.

I wore the pant during a hot and humid ride and was pleased by the breathability of the fabric. The pant didn't let sand in and it certainly allowed venting and cut down on sweat. The pant is sold in sizes 28 to 40 and comes in blue, black, yellow, red and orange.

The MSR Revolver jersey ($30) is constructed with your motocross standard issue 100 percent polyester fabric. MSR's graphics scheme and design was pretty trick. I really liked the blue, black and white design I tested. MSR used an elastic cuff, much like on the pant, on each sleeve to withstand the riding elements. The sleeves were an adequate length for my arms, but they did roll up my forearms for a nice cooling effect.

MSR Jerseys

Gloves might be the most important part of a good set of riding gear. The MSR Revolver gloves ($25) have resisted everything I've thrown at them. There was great mobility in the thumb and finger areas, making clutching, braking and jamming down the throttle a breeze.

I tested the gloves on a day the weather was cool and wet. They provided good grip and did not become water logged as many gloves tend to do. We all know how damaging many factory grips can be to hands and gloves. The MSR Revolver glove provided enough flexibility to hold on to the rubber grips without undue hand pressure and reduced hand fatigue and blisters that could be attributed to a tough Chalumeau palm insert.

MSR Gloves

I have pretty large hands, so finding a good-fitting glove can be challenging. The mid-length design on the large size glove was a very decent fit and the adjustable closure was another well engineered feature. The vented mesh panels keep your hands from sweating too much and did provide a measure of cooling air flow. The gloves appear to be wearing nicely and again the price is more than a bargain for the quality of the gloves.

And that's what's great about the Revolver line of gear; its total of $150 is cheaper than what one could pay for just pants from some of MSR's competitors.
