Freestyling on an atv. |

First off lets acknowledge an atv is not a toy and needs to be feared if ridden stupidly or by untrained atv riders. Now, the manufacturers will tell you their atv vehicles to perform safely under certain conditions and the owners manual will say you should never do wheelies, jumps, or dangerous stunts on your atv. Well, ok. But don't tell that to the atv motocross and atv freestyle riders! Freestyle atv makes the OLD SCHOOLERS angry because they feel it atv and motocross freestyle is ruining the sports reputation. Don't let it!
Dancing Rhinos.
Freestyling on an atv looks like two Rhinos dancing. The riders try to pull smooth, stylish, and very sick tricks. Only the highly skilled atv riders can command these four wheel beats as an atv is much more difficult to control in the air than a two wheeled motocross motorcycle. Think of the long pole tightrope walkers use for balance. On a freestyle motocross bike the rider uses the handle bars as a balancing pole and on the motorcycle the handlebar positions your hands far out on each side of the front tire. On an atv the handlebars do normally stretch past the front tires. It's a short balancing lever and as a result the atv rider must use more force to balance the atv.

Broke and Broken.
Very few atv riders have mastered some of the freestyle motocross tricks and the guys who have learned to do these tricks by practice, practice, and more practice. Keep in mind the freestylers on an atv are NOT riding a beater atv! These machines are highly modified with better suspension, lifters, engine upgrades and other tweaks. Cha-Ching! Along the way they bust alot of those expensive parts along with breaking assorted bones, teeth, and other body parts.Freestyling is not cheap and it is definitely not painless. If you think you are ready to notch it up to freestyling, check your tires, wheels, shocks and suspension. Absolutely fine-tune everything. Also make sure your helmet, googles, boots, gloves, and chest protector can handle the beating to come.
