Harley-Davidson motorcycle rider Senator John Kerry takes a spin in this picture on electric scooter Monday and said it might be the motorcycle technology of the future.
The Vectrix is an all electric motorcycle/scooter made in Poland by the Vectrix Corporation a company with headquarters in Middletown, R.I. Funny thing about this photo opp for Kerry is he is not wearing a motorcycle helmet while taking his little jaunt around the parking lot even though it is the law in this state to wear a motorcycle helmet. Go figure.

Senator Kerry is well known to love riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle so I suppose he is not too bad a fellow despite being a Washington DC. politician. The electric motorcycle/scooter he is riding is called the "Vectrix." I like the overall idea of the bike but electric motorcycle/scooters will never replace the good old tire smoking, wheelie pulling gasoline motorcycle engines we now have.
The Vectrix is to sell for about $11,000. This is twice as much as a similar gas powered motorcycle/scooter. The Vectrix weighs 462 pounds, has a top speed of 62 mph and the range on a single charge is 68 miles. Good for running errands around town but not for the open road. Vectrix Corp is headquartered in Middletown, R.I. and has a total of 155 employees. The motorcycle/scooter is produced in Poland! Whats up with that?? 700 Vectrix's have been sold to motorcycle dealers in 16 countries.
